According to a Gainesville Police Department report, walk-on punter Grant Van Aman was arrested early Saturday morning for driving under the influence. Not only driving under the influence, though, but driving under the influence on a red motor scooter.

The walk-on redshirt freshman allegedly ran a stop sign on his scooter right in front of a Gainesville police officer who was preparing to pull into the intersection. Van Aman spotted the police car, swerved and almost dropped his scooter, according to the report.

After he steadied the bike, he allegedly pulled out his cell phone and began driving again. The officer turned on his lights and tailed him into a UF parking garage.

The officer noted “a very strong odor of alcoholic beverages” and described Van Aman’s eyes as “watery, bloodshot and extremely dilated.” Van Aman, who turns 20 in September, refused multiple sobriety tests, told officers he had never been to Gainesville before and denied drinking earlier in the night at Fat Daddy’s Bar, where he admitted to being.

He was reportedly booked at Alachua County Jail around 4:30 a.m. later that morning.
