Jon Gruden pumps the brakes on return to coaching

Last week Jon Gruden teased us once again by telling PewterReport.com that he was "preparing to come back" to coaching football. On Wednesday afternoon, he back tracked on these statements.

“I don’t foresee myself coaching anytime soon,” Gruden said, via Jenna Laine of ESPN.com. “But I do like getting as close to the fire as possible. All I really have going is football. I don’t know what I would do without it. I’m happy with what I’m doing. I study as if I am a coach. I still make my own breakdowns, I still come up with my own playbook — I just don’t have anybody to give it to.”

Gruden has had his name linked to virtually every vacant coaching job since being fired by the Buccaneers after their 2008 season when he went 9-7. This will be the 9th NFL season since his firing, and it does not appear that even he knows if he will or will not coach again.
