Former Bucs 1st round pick Josh Freeman announces retirement

The news broke via TSN on Saturday as Josh Freeman officially retired from football. The CFL to be specific, as he was a member of the Montreal Alouettes. Freeman retires with 81 career TDs vs 68 interceptions. His best season was his second in 2010 where he threw for over 3,400 yards with 25 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.

Multiple reports say he was struggling at Alouettes camp this off-season, where he appeared to be being beaten out for the starting job by: Drew Willy, who played college football at Buffalo; and Matt Shiltz, who played at Butler.

Alouettes GM Kavis Reed released the following statement on Freeman's retirement, “We would like to thank Josh for his work and dedication. He was a consummate professional throughout camp. We respect his decision and we wish him the best in the future.”
